French culture is usually associated with Paris, the city of fashion, cuisine, art, and architecture. Many big fashion companies came from Paris, such as Dior, Hermes, Louis Vuitton and Chanel. The French often dress sophisticated, but casual. Normal outfits include nice dresses, suits, long coats, scarves and berets. French cuisine is important at all socioeconomic levels. Some classic dishes are bacon, cheddar and onion quiche, bouillabaisse, and lentil-and-chicken cassoulet. Some holidays the French celebrate are Christmas and Easter. They call Labor Day May Day and is on May 1.They celebrate May 8 as the end of hostilities in Europe in World War II. Bastille Day is celebrated on July 14. It is the day that the French Revolution started.
